Jackie Smola of Piedmont is directing the play, which will be performed in 11 shows starting at 8 p.m. Sept. 13-Sept. 15 and Sept. 20-Sept. 22. Matinees will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 15, Sept. 16 and Sept. 23.

Mustang Prevention Coalition will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at Mustang United Methodist Church to discuss ways to raise community awareness about youth drug and alcohol use.

First Baptist Church of Mustang will host a Mothers of Preschoolers group starting this September.

In its second year, MOPS will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month starting Sept. 12.

A speaker and a craft will be offered once each month to parents while children play in child care. Once each month parents and preschoolers will have an activity together.

The Stage Door Theater in Yukon will hold auditions for its October show, “Frankenstein 1930” Sept. 8 and Sept. 9.

There are numerous parts for men and women of all ages. Auditions will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 8 and from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m Sept. 9 at 601 Oak in Yukon.

Those auditioning must come with a one to two minute prepared monologue, which will be followed by cold readings from the script.

Mustang students’ Algebra I state test scores soared up 36 percent last school year while other high school exam results were mixed.
Eighty-five percent of students scored satisfactory on the Algebra I End of Instruction exam, up from 49 percent in 2006. Secondary Curriculum Coordinator Geoff Kingsley said, while some of the increase is a result of students’ and teachers’ work, state education officials also changed the benchmark for what is considered acceptable work on the exam.
