Hundreds of Democrat delegates from 32 counties will attend the 3rd Congressional District Convention Friday and Saturday in Canadian County. Canadian County was selected as the convention site in honor of local Democrats’ success with candidate forums and fund-raising events. Oklahoma Observer Editor Frosty Troy will speak at the activist banquet Friday. The event, which will recognize volunteers’ contributions, begins at 7 p.m. at Dale Robertson Center, 1200 Lakeshore Drive in Yukon. Pre-registration is required. 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday: Sock Hop

Lakehoma Elementary PTA will hold a 1950s sock hop from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. There will be games and a best dressed contest. Admission is $2 per child with an adult. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers will run a soda shop serving root beer floats, coke floats, hot dogs and nachos. All elementary school students are invited to join the fun.
