  • Compact florescent light bulb giveaway continues.
  • Children’s story times at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Monday for ages 3 through 7.
  • Beginners’ computer class will continue topics discussed in December at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
  • Library Book Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday to discuss “The Chase” by Clive Cussler.

Volunteers will hold a fundraiser dinner at Pizza Hut from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 21.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $3.50 for children, ages 6 to 12. Dinner includes pizza and salad.

To buy a ticket call Richard Schwalbach at 745-3914. Tickets may also be purchased at Vicker’s Photography or at the Mustang Pizza Hut the night of the event.

6:30 p.m. Jan. 7: High School Project Graduation meeting

Mustang High School Project Graduation volunteers will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the MHS Commons Building.

Volunteers will conduct the raffle ticket drawing that was scheduled for Dec. 10, but was postponed due to weather.

United Way of Canadian County donations outpaced 2006 funding levels

Donors have pushed contributions to The United Way of Canadian County to the 90 percent mark, and organizers say their $115,000 goal is within reach.

Growth in the Mustang community continued to boom during the last six months of 2007, as over 250 additional students attended class in the Mustang School District.

Proposal sparks questions

Proposals for a new multi-million dollar baseball complex in the city have hit roadblocks before. As a new $2.8 million bond issue moves toward an April ballot, some City Council members have questioned whether it is the right time to present the issue to voters.
Voters turned down a $4.5 million sports complex proposal in December 2006.

Ward 1 Councilman Jay Adams is spearheading the effort to “give residents the full picture” on a possible $2.8 million bond issue that would finance new baseball fields.
