Asian night market lights up Oklahoma City this weekend: food, music and late-night vendors

Show summary Hide summary

The Asian Night Market Festival returns to Oklahoma City this weekend for two evenings of street food, performances and cultural programming that have turned the city’s Asian District into a regional destination. Running Oct. 2–3 on Classen Boulevard, the event matters now because it brings a major weekend crowd, fresh national recognition and a boost to local small businesses.

The eighth edition of the festival fills Classen Boulevard between NW 23rd and NW 27th streets from 5 to 11 p.m. both nights, with more than 100 vendors and a program that mixes traditional and contemporary Asian cultural offerings.

Organized by the Asian District Cultural Association, the market has grown rapidly since its 2018 debut. Founding crowds hovered around 15,000; recent estimates put attendance near 80,000, underlining the event’s rising profile in Oklahoma City’s cultural calendar.

This year brings a new layer of attention: the festival was ranked No. 2 on USA TODAY’s 10Best list of night market festivals, a national nod that organizers say highlights the district’s expanding reputation beyond the state.

What to expect this weekend

Festival programming blends food, retail and live entertainment designed to appeal to families and younger crowds alike. Highlights include:

  • Food stalls: a wide variety of street foods and desserts from local restaurateurs and pop-ups.
  • Performances: cultural stages featuring traditional dance and music alongside modern acts.
  • Competitions and shows: a K-Pop Dance Competition and a fashion show spotlighting regional designers.
  • Interactive attractions: karaoke booths, face painting, a 360-degree video experience and the Mindbender ride.
  • Ceremonial elements: lion dance performances that punctuate evening programming.

When the street fair closes, the celebration continues with an Asian Night Market AfterParty spread across venues in the district. Among the scheduled performers, DJ Kim Lee—known from the television show Bling Empire—will appear at Yours Truly.

Why this matters locally

For the Asian District, the market functions as more than a weekend attraction: it’s a platform for small businesses and cultural groups to reach new customers and showcase traditions. The large crowds translate into direct economic activity for restaurants, retailers and performers who participate.

At the same time, national recognition can help draw visitors from outside the metro area, reinforcing Oklahoma City’s appeal as a diverse cultural destination. That broader interest may lead to longer-term benefits for neighborhood investment and tourism.

Admission to the festival is free. Events run from 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 3, along Classen Boulevard in Oklahoma City’s Asian District.
