Obituaries for July 10, 2008

Richard Dale Scholle
Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Dale Scholle, 50, was held Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Oklahoma City with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Services were under direction of McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service.

Mr. Scholle died June 30 at his home in Del City. He was born Oct. 31, 1957, in Tampa, Fla., and grew up in Oklahoma City. After graduating from Western Heights High School, he served in the Navy.

Springer’s departure leaves board facing search

Mustang School Board members are expected Monday night to move toward searching for a new superintendent after Karl Springer accepted the top spot in the Oklahoma City School District.

Jeff Johnson, Mustang School Board president, said he expects board members will consider Springer’s resignation during their regular board meeting at 7 p.m. Monday night at Mustang Education Center.

“We will be proactive and have on the agenda to have steps in place for an interim superintendent,” he said.

Police: Fireworks complaints plummet 29 percent from 2007

No citations were issued, and no injuries were reported related to fireworks this season, Mustang officials said.

Capt. Willard James said police fielded 131 complaints from residents related to fireworks from June 27 to July 4, the time frame in which fireworks are legal inside Mustang city limits. The number of complaints represent a 29-percent drop from 184 in 2007.

Mayors’ meeting fuels hope for partnerships

A month ago, the Mustang City Council voted against joining a proposed Canadian County Economic Development partnership. The move took some El Reno city leaders by surprise.

Following an informal meeting last week, the prospects for such a partnership may be a little brighter. El Reno Mayor Matt White and Mustang Mayor Jeff Landrith met for dinner last week in a Yukon restaurant to simply get “to know each other a little bit better,” White said.
