Oklahoma City’s Will Rogers International Airport will restore direct service to the nation’s capital this summer: a new seasonal nonstop to Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) begins in June, reconnecting OKC and the Northeast for the first time since the pandemic. The change matters for summer travelers and for local tourism, offering a single-seat option for weekend and regional connections.

The flight, operated by Southwest Airlines, is scheduled to depart on Saturdays starting June 6 and will run through Aug. 1. Travelers can view schedules and buy tickets on southwest.com.

What the service includes

Airport officials say the reinstated route provides direct access to Washington-area business and leisure markets and makes it simpler for visitors to reach Oklahoma City. Jeff Mulder, OKC’s director of airports, described the return of the link as a tangible benefit for residents and for the city’s summer visitor economy.

Route Carrier Service Days Operating Window Where to Book

OKC – Cancun Southwest Seasonal Launched Nov. 2025 — runs through Sept. 2026 southwest.com

For passengers, the new nonstop reduces travel time and eliminates the need to connect through other hubs for trips to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Seat availability and fares will vary by date; the airline’s site is the official source for current pricing and booking policies.

  • Frequency: Weekly, Saturdays only during the advertised window.
  • Start date: June 6, 2026.
  • Seasonal scope: Planned through Aug. 1, 2026; subject to change by the carrier.
  • Tickets: Available at southwest.com; check baggage and change/cancellation terms before purchase.

This reinstated route marks the first nonstop service between OKC and BWI since early 2020, reflecting a cautious but steady restoration of pre-pandemic connections. For Oklahoma City, even a once-weekly flight can boost weekend visitation and provide a direct option for families, business travelers and government-related trips to the capital region.
