Victor is a multimedia journalist who has built a toolkit spanning campus collaborations, political reporting in Washington, and licensed drone operations — a mix that now shapes how local stories are told online. In March 2025 he joined News 9 and News On 6 as a Web Content Producer, focusing on rapid, short-form digital reporting that responds to how audiences consume news today.
Early steps and newsroom training
His reporting path began at Oklahoma City Community College, where he worked with the campus film and cinema program to raise the quality and reach of student digital journalism. That hands-on experience with production and storytelling provided a practical foundation before he moved to the University of Oklahoma to complete his degree.

While at the University of Oklahoma, Victor was selected for the competitive Gaylord in DC program — a placement that sends a small group of students to Washington, D.C. to report on federal issues. There he interviewed Oklahoma lawmakers and covered topics directly affecting the state, gaining early exposure to political reporting and source development.
Technical skills and production experience
During the pandemic he expanded his skill set beyond traditional reporting. He earned an FAA commercial drone certification and worked on personal multimedia projects that sharpened his visual storytelling. That credential makes him one of the local reporters able to legally and safely gather aerial footage for newsgathering.
On the production side, Victor served as a Digital Imaging Technician on a regional film shoot, learning the workflows of larger-scale productions and the technical coordination that goes on behind the camera. These roles gave him practical knowledge of editing pipelines, color workflows, and on-set logistics — skills he now applies to digital newsrooms.

The combination of political reporting experience, production know-how and a drone license matters for local audiences. It means faster, more visually driven coverage; reporters who can deploy multiple formats; and a newsroom better equipped to produce short videos and aerial visuals alongside traditional text stories.
Why this matters now
Newsrooms are competing for attention on mobile feeds and social platforms, where short, authoritative pieces and compelling visuals perform best. Victor’s background aligns with that shift: he brings production literacy and legally compliant aerial capabilities at a time when outlets are investing in digital-first formats.
Readers should expect coverage that mixes concise digital storytelling with stronger visual elements — from on-the-ground interviews to aerial context for breaking incidents or civic projects. That blend can provide clearer, faster understanding of local developments without sacrificing verification or editorial standards.
Victor completed his bachelor’s degree in Online Journalism at the end of 2023 and continued working in editorial and production roles while freelancing as an aerial photographer and editor. His current role at News 9 and News On 6 centers on adapting reporting for digital audiences and producing short-form content that aims to inform viewers quickly and accurately.
