First baby of the year: Newborn makes early appearance for couple
Ashley and Jameson Reynolds hold their first child Aniston Grace born at 12:20 a.m. Jan. 1. She is the first baby born at Integris Canadian Valley Regional Hospital in 2009. By Carolyn Cole/Staff Writer New Year’s baby Aniston Grace Reynolds is barely a week old, and she’s already poking her parents with her long fingers and slugging them with her tiny fists. Aniston was born a few days early, her father Jameson Reynolds said, helping Integris Canadian Valley Regional Hospital ring in 2009. She was born at 12:20 a.m. Jan. 1, weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces and was 19 3/4 inches long. Aniston is Jameson and Ashley Reynolds’ first child. For short, her father said they plan to call her Annie. “She loves to use her hands,” he said. “We have to put mittens on her all of the time because she is always throwing punches at us.” Reynolds graduated from Mustang High School in 2002 and in 2006 from the University of Central Oklahoma with a communications degree. He’s worked at Tate Publishing Music Group for a year and a half. His wife Ashley Reynolds is a 2006 Yukon High School graduate and a Mid-America Christian University business management major. She works as an office manager at Bob Howard Collision Center. Jameson Reynolds said they are beginning to adapt as new parents. “I love it,” he said. “It’s exciting, sometimes slightly overwhelming, but definitely rewarding.” Reynolds said he was surprised to see Annie lift her head from his chest eight hours after her birth. He said the newborn seemed to be looking around, soaking in her surroundings. Annie is already taking her first lessons in music. Reynolds said they are playing different music recordings for her, and with her long fingers, he can imagine his daughter someday playing the piano. Musical talent could be in her genes — Ashley Reynolds sang in church and school choirs as a child, while her father plays the guitar, bass, keyboard and drums. “She loves that,” he said. “We didn’t think she would be as respond to it.” For having the first baby of the year, the couple receives a special quilt and gift basket from the hospital. Annie’s grandparents are Karen Reynolds of Mustang and Keith and Karla Walker of Yukon. Recent IssuesSpecial Sections |
