Ian Condon, a four-star forward from Sidwell Friends in the Washington, D.C., area, has committed to the University of Florida, becoming the first verbal pledge in the Gators’ Class of 2027. The decision, announced this week, locks in a major recruit for Florida ahead of the November early signing period and sets expectations for Condon’s final high school season.
At 6-foot-7 and roughly 220 pounds, Condon arrives with a proven high-school track record: he averaged 19.3 points and 7.9 rebounds as a junior and earned All–Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference honors for a second straight year. His commitment to Florida follows a recruiting cycle that included offers from several Atlantic Coast and national programs.

Condon visited Gainesville on Sept. 5 and spent time with coach Todd Golden, members of the staff and current players — an official trip Condon said helped shape his choice. He praised Florida’s emphasis on continuity and the program’s winning identity, and noted the university’s academic standing and overall campus fit as factors in his decision.

The commitment was announced on CBS Sports’ college basketball channel, and Condon made the in-person announcement at Sidwell Friends, surrounded by family, his trainer and coach Eric Singletary.
What Condon brings to the Gators
Condon projects as a multi-faceted forward who has shown scoring and rebounding consistency at the prep level. Beyond high-school competition, he has experience on the EYBL circuit with Team Melo and participated in the invitation-only Jayson Tatum Elite Camp in Las Vegas, signaling recognition on the national evaluation scene.

- Class: 2027
- Rating: Four-star prospect
- Size: 6’7″, 220 lbs
- Junior stats: 19.3 points, 7.9 rebounds per game

For Florida, securing Condon early in the cycle gives the staff a committed frontcourt piece to build around and evaluate while he finishes his senior year. For Condon, a signed LOI in November will formalize a path into the SEC — a conference known for physical frontcourt play and national exposure.
Sidwell Friends’ growing pipeline
Sidwell Friends, under coach Eric Singletary, has steadily produced Division I talent in recent years. The program lists current NBA players among its alumni, and the school publicly celebrated Condon’s decision on social media. Singletary shared a congratulatory photo of the two in Florida shirts and wrote a brief message of support.
Condon will return to Sidwell as a senior and is expected to lead the Quakers as they begin the season knowing one of their captains already has a college destination secured.
Condon’s commitment is now part of the wider early-signing narrative that will play out through November, when prospects across the country complete their transitions to the collegiate ranks.
