Taste of ‘Lagniappe’By Daniel Lapham Canadian County is about to get “a little something extra” from the Youth and Family Services staff at the seventh annual Lagniappe Dinner at 6 p.m. Feb. 1 at Festivities. Tracy Baustert, YFS assistant director, said this year’s fundraising dinner and auction will be the highlight of the year for everyone who has helped support the organization. This marks the first Cajun feast since the organization moved to its new facilities east of El Reno on state Highway 66. The Youth and Family Services of Blaine, Canadian and Kingfisher counties have joined together for an evening including a silent auction, a raffle drawing for an amethyst necklace and a red pearl necklace, plus a live auction where guests can bid on their favorite dessert. County resident Matt White will play the role of auctioneer, Baustert said. “For anyone who knows Matt and has seen him in action, this is going to be a treat,” she said. Admission to the dinner is $30 at the door for an all-you-can-eat Cajun feast of boiled shrimp, blackened chicken, roasted pig, gumbo, red beans and rice, French bread, bread pudding, pop, beer, tea and Hurricanes. The event will be catered by Yunique Ocajuns Caters. “Please RSVP by calling Heather at 262-6555 by Tuesday,” Baustert said. ReplyRecent IssuesSpecial Sections |
