K-State drubs OSU, Pokes enter second bye-week at 5-4
For the third consecutive week, the Oklahoma State Cowboys were defeated by more than three touchdowns with a 48-14 loss at the hands of ninth-ranked Kansas State in Manhattan.
The loss drops OSU to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the Big 12 Conference, as they enter their second bye week of the season.
The Wildcats held the Cowboys to just 260 total yards of offense, including 148 passing yards and 112 rushing yards. The Pokes amassed 12 first downs in the game and committed three turnovers.
Freshman sensation running back Tyreek Hill was the lone bright spot for Oklahoma State last Saturday, as the speedy running back rushed for 108 yards on 18 carries with one touchdown.
Quarterback Daxx Garman had 148 yards through the air against Kansas State on 12 completions out of 32 attempts. Garman finished the day with no touchdown passes and two interceptions.
Receiver James Washington led Okie State in receptions with three in the game for 33 yards. Mustang native David Glidden totaled 32 yards receiving on three catches as well.
Linebacker Ramon Richards led the OSU defense with seven tackles.
The defensive unit for the Pokes allowed Kansas State to amass 421 yards of offense, including 287 yards through the air and 134 yards on the ground. KSU totaled 21 first downs and committed one turnover in the game.
Running back Charles Jones led the ‘Cats in rushing with 45 yards on 10 carries with two touchdowns. Quarterback Jake Waters finished the day with 223 yards through the air on 19 completions out of 28 attempts and two touchdowns.
Receiver Curry Sexton was the leading pass catcher for Kansas State against the Pokes with 159 yards on nine catches and one touchdown.
Cornerback Morgan Burns led the Wildcats in tackles with six on the day.
Oklahoma State enters its second bye week of the regular season with three games remaining on their schedule. The Cowboys have one home game and two road games. The remaining home outing is against Texas, and the two road games are against Baylor and in-state rival Oklahoma.
The Pokes need one more win out of those three games in order to become bowl eligible.
