MHS HEADED EAST FOR REGIONAL PLAY
BY CLINT CRAWFORD
Edition:Friday, October 02, 2009

Mustang dodged a bullet with the release of the volleyball regional playoff pairings Thursday.
The Broncos are headed to the east side of the state to play in the Jenks regional.
“It's going to be something different,” MHS volleyball coach Beverly Adams said. “It's not the No. 1 ranked team this time around; it's the No. 4 team.”
The Broncos were forced to face No. 1 Edmond Santa Fe last season.
“Every time my girls hear Edmond in any fashion they kind of freeze up, and that panics them,”Adams said. “I think the door can be wide open for us.”
No. 12 Sand Springs and Tulsa East Central join Mustang and No. 4 Jenks in the regional.
The regional consists of single-elimination bracket play with the winner getting a bid to the state tournament.
The regional will be played Thursday at Jenks High School, but times of games weren't decided as of press time.
Jenks will face Tulsa East Central. The Broncos are set to face Sand Springs.
“I think they are beatable; we just have to find their weaknesses,” Adams said.
The lengthy trip should not play too much of a factor, Adams said.
“We're going to get up there early and not be so rushed,” she said.
Mustang is 15-13 on the season and has won four of its last six games.
“I think from Bartlesville on we have just played some great ball and are coming together as a team,” Adams said. “The girls have worked hard, I see improvement and I think we're ready.”
The Broncos still have one more regular season game left on the schedule. They will face Ponca City Tuesday for senior night. That game starts at 6 p.m.
The game will be played in the MHS gym not the new health and wellness center as was anticipated.
