April 27
*A driver in a stolen vehicle led police on a chase through three Mustang neighborhoods before running away into a field.
Police Capt. Willard James said police were first dispatched at 2:06 a.m. to a convenience store in the 1700 block of West state Highway 152.
“It was in reference to possible drug activity in the parking lot,” he said. “While in route, an officer observed a vehicle traveling at 68 mph.”
Police tried to stop the vehicle in the 400 block of West state Highway 152, but James said the car continued east, turning into the Pebble Creek Terrace area. Police followed the car east, across Mustang Road into the Branches addition, and then across state Highway 152 into the Heights addition.
James said the vehicle stopped at a dead end at Woodland and Elder drives, and the driver ran from the vehicle into a field.
“Officers were unable to locate the suspect,” he said.
Police impounded the green 2000 Honda four-door car, which was reported as stolen by a resident in the 200 block of North Pebble Creek Terrace. James said the car was returned to its owner, and no damage was reported.
Another vehicle was reported missing from Pebble Creek Terrace later April 27, which James said could be related to the incident. Oklahoma City police found the 2000 Honda Civic in the 800 block of SE 49th Street.
“The vehicle was disabled and stripped, not drivable and was towed from the scene,” James said.
The vehicle had an estimated value of $7,000.
