MUSTANG SEVENTH IN MAC

Edition:Friday, May 01, 2009

The Mustang boys' track team finished seventh out of the eight teams in the Metro Athletic Conference Meet Thursday afternoon.
The Broncos finished with 32 team points ahead of Putnam City North, who had 22 points. Putnam City West was ahead of Mustang in sixth with 48 points. Edmond Santa Fe won the meet with 175 points.
MHS placed in four events.
The 3,200-meter relay team comprised of T.J. Russell, Blake Wood, Tony Pinazza and Zac Ricks took second with a time of 8:17.14. That time was the best for the relay team this season.
Zac Wynne took fourth place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:04.43.
“He ran well in the 800, running his best time of the year,” MHS head coach Charles Stover said.
The 1,600-meter relay team made up of Ricks, Luke Larson, Zac Sparkman and Pinazza also finished fourth with a time of 3:29.66. Duran Johnson cleared 6 feet in the high jump to take fourth place.
“We are still fighting some problems with injuries and hope to get everybody well for regionals next Saturday,” Stover said.
Mustang will compete in the regional meet on May 9.
