Jerry Max Maynard
Jerry Max Maynard of Mustang, age 80, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014.
He was born Dec. 2, 1933 in Pauls Valley, Okla. to Herschel and Florence (Duke) Maynard. Jerry was a graduate of Cordell High School and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was an educator and taught in the Dill City and Mountain View school districts, before becoming an elementary principal serving the districts of Mountain View, Putnam City, Yukon and Mustang. Jerry was the Mustang Elementary School principal from 1973-1988. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, camping and spectator sports, but his greatest love in life was his wife of 60 years, Yvonne, and his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Herschel and Robert W. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne of the home; son, Bobby Maynard and wife Nancy of Great Falls, MT; daughter, Kathy Patterson and husband Larry of Naples, Fla.; daughter, Jill Vaverka and husband Brian of Midwest City; and son, Max Maynard and wife Suzie of Friendswood, Texas. Also survived by six grandchildren, Kate Kalanick, Stacy Maynard, Jenny Patterson, Sara Patterson, Kolby Vaverka and Kanton Vaverka.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8 at Chisholm Heights Baptist Church in Mustang, with interment to follow in the Mustang Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.mcneilsmustangfs.com.
