Virgil Lee Gurley
Virgil Lee Gurley, age 76, died Sunday, March 2, 2014 in an Oklahoma City hospital after a short illness.
He was born December 15, 1937 in Chickasha to Ernest V. and Katherine Marie (Bozarth) Gurley. He grew up in the Minco/Mustang area and was a 1956 graduate of Mustang High School. He had lived most of his adult life in the Oklahoma City/Moore area where he was a truck driver. He worked many years for Bernie Mathes Trucking. He enjoyed his grandchildren and loved to play the guitar and sing.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Roberta.
He is survived by three sons, Gene, Randy and Kenny Gurley all of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Ramona Gurley of Oklahoma City and Kathy McBride of Frisco, Texas. Also by six grandchildren, Sarah, Evan, Brian, Samantha, Colton and Chase; four great grandchildren, Halie, Dylan, Katelyn and Bryant; one brother, Ray Gurley of Mustang; and one sister, Darla Wood of Oklahoma City.
Graveside rites will be held at noon on Thursday, March 6 at Evergreen Cemetery in Minco under the direction of McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service. Online condolences may be made at www.mcneilsmustangfs.com.
