Joyce Ann Rice
Joyce Ann Rice, age 76, surrounded by her loving husband and children, went to meet her Lord and Savior on March 3, 2014.
She was born June 13, 1937 in Cambridge, Oklahoma to Oscar Clinton and Maggie Dezzy (Abston) Richey. Growing up in southwest Oklahoma, the daughter of a wheat farmer, she graduated from Lone Wolf High School in 1955. It was there she met Jerry, the love of her life, married and dedicated herself to making a Christian home for her husband and three children. Over the next 14 years, Joyce and the family moved several times, following better job opportunities, until finally settling in Mustang in 1969. Joyce was an active member of the Lakehoma Church of Christ. She worked at various jobs throughout her life and spent the last several years of her working life partnering with her husband in operating EC Paving Company, a family owned business.
Preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, she is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Jerry of the home; one son, Clendon Rice and wife Julie of Mustang; two daughters, Jan Guthrie of Mustang and Cathy Bowles and husband Larry of Ft. Gibson, Okla. Also by nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one sister Linda Cornwell of Mustang.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 6 at Lakehoma Church of Christ in Mustang, with internment following in the Mustang Cemetery under the direction of McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service. Online condolences may be made at www.mcneilsmustangfs.com.
