Swimmers close out season at state meet

The Broncos had 21 swimmers in the pool for the two-day event at the Edmond Aquatic Center. The girls’ team placed 12th overall, while the boys finished 18th. The girls finished the meet with 64 points, and the boys ended with 12 points.
MHS had 22 swimmers qualify for the state meet, but Jesse Lewis was unable to participate because of a broken arm.
Norman North stole the show as both the girls’ and boys’ teams won the state championship. The NN girls finished with 365 points and the boys totaled 353.
The Bronco squads competed in eight events in the meet.
Here are the results from the Mustang teams:
In the girls’ 200-yard medley relay race, Mustang finished in 11th place with a time of 2:08.25. Hannah Kertzner, Samantha Jones, Lauren Oliver and Peyton Sprague made up the team.
In the girls’ 50-yard freestyle race, it was Jones taking ninth place overall with a time of 25.93 seconds.
In the girls’ 100-yard butterfly stroke, Oliver placed 15th overall with a time of 1:07.65.
In the girls’ 100-yard freestyle event, Jones took 14th place with a time of 59.07 seconds.
In the boys’ 200-yard freestyle relay race, Mustang finished in 13th place with a time of 1:44.79. Minh Nguyen, Drake Stowe, Chandler McDonald and Keyton Marzolf made up the squad.
In the girls’ 100-yard breaststroke event, Oliver placed 13th overall with a time of 1:19.27.
In the girls’ 400-yard freestyle relay race, Mustang took 12th place overall with a time of 4:31.39. Bailee Gray, Kertzner, Summer Chrismon and Mazie Garza made up the team.
In the boys’ 400-yard freestyle relay event, the Broncos grabbed 15th place with a time of 4:02.19. Matt Sellon, Robert Coulter, Matthew Jensen and Tucker Legg made up the squad.
