Dana Irene Avants
Dana Irene Avants, age 56, died Wednesday, Dec. 25 at her home in rural El Reno after an extended illness.
Mrs. Avants was born May 24, 1957, in Kerrville, Texas, to George J. and Dorothy L. (Littrell) Yarbrough. She grew up in Texas and Edmond. After high school she served in the U.S. Army, where she was in the last WAC unit before it was disbanded. She worked several years in the human resources department at the Federal Aviation Administration before illness forced her early retirement. She was a member of Mustang United Methodist Church.
Dana was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Ford, and two brothers, Perry and George Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Donnie of the home; one daughter, Ashley Cogburn and husband, Leroy, and two granddaughters, Ainsley and Avery, all of Elk City; her father, George Yarbrough and wife, Hughlene of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Debi French of Bedford, Texas, and Tami Hall and husband, Danny of Amarillo, Texas; and a host of special nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Saturday, Dec. 28 at Mustang United Methodist Church, with interment with military honors following in the Bethany Cemetery. Arrangements were by McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service.
