Fern B. (Luttrell) Chambers, age 89, died Monday, Nov. 25 at an Oklahoma City hospital after a time of declining health.
Fern was born Oct. 19, 1924, near Fort Cobb in Caddo County to Robert and Minnie (Pinkston) Williams. She grew up in the area around Fort Cobb and lived most of her adult life in the Cowden and Mt. View communities. She was a licensed beauty operator but worked many years for C.R. Anthony Co. in Oklahoma City, Cordell and Weatherford before retiring. She moved to Oklahoma City in 1956 and to Wheatland in 1959, then back to the Mt. View and Cordell area in 1965. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cordell.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sammie; two grandchildren; four brothers, Jack, Otis, Floyd and Lawrence; and five sisters, Bessie, Ada, Eula, Ollie and Josie.
Survivors include one son, Dwight Luttrell and wife, Donna of Ninnekah; two daughters, Pat Oltermann and husband, Dewayne of Mustang and Laquetta Treadaway of Tuttle; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 29 at Chisholm Heights Baptist Church, Mustang, with interment following at Mt. View Cemetery, under the direction of McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service.
